Common madder, or dye madder (Rubiatinctorius)

Has been known for centuries as a valuable plant dye and gives its name to the incomparable bright red color it produces. Madder has been used in the Indian subcontinent since the second millennium BC. The dye was also found on fabrics found in the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun, dating back to the fourteenth century BC.

The beautiful, permanent red dye extracted from madder roots produces a wide range of shades, from canary yellow to brown, from pale pink and terracotta to purple and violet.

It is highly resistant to washing and light, as well as acids, etc. Madder is a treasure trove of active compounds that contribute to its remarkable skin-improving properties.

Madder has powerful anti-inflammatory properties that help soothe irritated skin, reduce redness and ease inflammatory skin conditions, as well as eliminate the bacteria that cause it.

The flavonoids present in madder have powerful antioxidant activity, protecting the skin from free radical damage and premature aging. Madder also helps slow down the aging process by neutralizing free radicals and promoting collagen production.

Collagen is a protein that gives skin its elasticity and firmness, and madder can help maintain healthy collagen levels for youthful-looking skin. Madder’s antioxidant properties also help combat oxidative stress, which is characterized by the appearance of discolored spots. Madder is known for its ability to prevent hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone. It inhibits the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for dark spots, and helps restore skin’s natural radiance. Regular use of LUFFACCI madder-tinted skin care sponges promotes a more balanced and radiant complexion.
